Let Me Eat Your Pancreas ( (きみ) (すい) (ぞう) をたべたい Kimi no Suizō o Tabetai?, lit. I Want to Eat Your Pancreas) is a 2017 Japanese romance drama film directed by Sho Tsukikawa that is based on Yoru Sumino's 2015 novel, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. It was released on July 28, 2017.

Synopsis[]

I am a high school student. I happen to find a diary by my classmate Sakura Yamauchi that reveals she is suffering from a pancreatic disease. I spend time with Sakura, but she dies.

12 years later, due to Sakura’s words, I am now a high school teacher at the same school where I graduated from. While I talk with my student, I remember several months I spent with Sakura. Meanwhile, Kyoko, who was Sakura’s friend, is soon to marry. Kyoko also recalls the days she spent with me and Sakura.[1]

In Japan, the film grossed ¥3.52 billion ($31.68 million), becoming the fifth highest-grossing domestic film of 2017. Overseas, the film grossed $3.6 million in China, $3,457,444 in South Korea, $277,019 in the United States and Canada, and $115,494 in Spain, Thailand and Australia. This brings the film's total worldwide gross to $39,129,957.[2]
