Yoru Sumino ( (すみ) () よる Sumino Yoru?) is the author of the original I Want to Eat Your Pancreas novel and its sequel, To My Father and to Someone in My Memories.

History[]

Sumino's debut work was the I Want to Eat Your Pancreas light novel, which they originally released on the story-sharing site Shosetsuka ni Naro in 2014. It was later professionally picked up by Futabasha in 2015 and republished as a physical novel, and went on to receive numerous manga and movie adaptations.

In 2016, Sumino released their second novel, At Night, I Become a Monster (よるのばけもの Yoru no Bakemono?), which has a similar concept to I Want to Eat Your Pancreas in that it, too, shares the theme of one classmate finding out another's secret, and the two growing closer a result. It spanned 20 chapters and was also published by Futabasha.

In 2017, Sumino released the novel Kakushigoto (か「」く「」し「」ご「」と「 Kakushigoto?), which is about a group of five classmates with buried secrets. It was published by Shinchosha, and would later receive a manga adaptation in 2018.

Later that year, Sumino collaborated with Idumi Kirihara, the artist of I Want to Eat Your Pancreas' manga adaptation, to create a manga named I Had That Same Dream Again (また、 (おな) (ゆめ) をみていた Mata, Onaji Yume o Mite ita?), which Sumino later wrote a light novel adaptation of.

In 2020, Sumino began the novel Mugimoto Sanpo no Suki na Mono ( (むぎ) (もと) (さん) () () きなもの Mugimoto Sanpo no Suki na Mono?, lit. Sanpo Mugimoto's Favorite Thing), which is currently ongoing.
